Resin bound outdoor entertaining surface beside a tropical pool and landscaped garden

Our alfresco & porch paving

Your alfresco is where the home actually entertains — and it deserves better than tiles, pavers and concrete meeting at awkward joints. We lay one continuous surface of seamless natural stone that carries the home’s finish outdoors, turning the space under your roofline into an entertaining area that looks considered — in days, not weeks.

Because the surface is trowelled in place rather than laid in units, it flows around posts, wraps steps and sits flush against door thresholds — no joints, no level changes, no patchwork of materials. It’s barefoot-friendly, naturally slip resistant, permeable so water drains straight through rather than pooling at the edge, and easy to hose down after entertaining. Where the existing slab is sound, we lay straight over it — no demolition, no skip bins.

With Signature Resin Paving you get the job done properly: premium resin systems, an honest assessment of your slab before we quote, a fixed written price, and a 10-year workmanship warranty behind the finish. The people who quote your alfresco are the people who lay it.

Where it works

01

Alfresco & entertaining areas

Covered or open outdoor living spaces adjoining the house.

02

Porches & verandahs

Front and side entries where the paving sets the first impression of the home.

03

Step-downs & transitions

Where an alfresco or porch steps down to a lower path or lawn level.

Key benefits

  • Seamless finish around posts, steps and fixed roof structures
  • Permeable, so runoff from an alfresco roof doesn't pool at the edge
  • Matches or complements an existing driveway or path in the same aggregate
  • No grout lines or paver joints to collect leaves and debris
  • Slip resistant surface underfoot, wet or dry
  • Laid over existing sound concrete without demolition

Finish and design

We usually let the house lead aggregate selection on an alfresco or porch, since it's often the most visible paved area on the property — matching or deliberately contrasting with existing tiles, render or brickwork.

Where an alfresco adjoins a driveway or path, carrying the same aggregate through removes the joint between them and the whole frontage reads as one surface rather than three different materials.

Level changes at a porch step or alfresco edge are a decision worth making early — a step finished in the same aggregate as the surface above and below it disappears into the design.

How we install it

We assess what the existing slab or paving is sitting on and where water currently goes once it clears any roofline above, since that decides how the new surface is detailed at its edges.

Posts, step edges and door thresholds are worked around individually rather than with a generic edge treatment, so the finish sits flush against each one.

The mix is trowelled by hand in working sections for a continuous finish, with cure time before foot traffic confirmed before we start.

Common questions

Why choose resin bound paving over tiles or pavers for an alfresco?

Tiles and pavers mean grout lines, lippage and joints that collect leaves and work loose over time. Resin bound paving gives you one continuous surface of natural stone that flows around posts, steps and thresholds, so your alfresco reads as a considered extension of the home rather than a patchwork of materials.

How long does an alfresco surface last, and is it under warranty?

Prepared and laid correctly, a resin bound surface is a 15-plus year finish, and an alfresco carries far lighter traffic than a driveway. Our workmanship is backed by a 10-year warranty (terms and conditions apply) alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law, with the terms in writing alongside your quote.

Can it be laid around posts, columns and steps?

Yes — because the surface is trowelled in place rather than cut from units, posts, columns and step edges are detailed into the layout individually so the finish sits flush against each one. A porch step finished in the same stone as the surface above and below it simply disappears into the design.

Will it work with the tiles and finishes already on our home?

We won’t promise an exact match to a different material, but with a wide range of natural stone blends we can complement your existing tiles, render or brickwork — or carry the same blend through from a driveway or path so the whole property reads as one surface. You see the blend against the house before anything is laid.

Is it suitable under a covered alfresco or verandah?

Yes. Even under a roof, water from cleaning, spills and wind-driven rain still needs somewhere to go, and because the surface is permeable it drains straight through rather than sitting in puddles at the edge.

Is it comfortable underfoot and easy to clean?

Very. The finish is smooth enough for bare feet yet naturally slip resistant wet or dry, and with no grout lines or joints to trap food and leaves, cleaning up after entertaining is usually just a sweep or a rinse with the hose.
