Our permeable concrete resurfacing
Most blocks already have more concrete than the ground can cope with — every drop of rain that lands on a sealed slab has to run somewhere else, ponding in the low spots or racing off to the street. Permeable concrete resurfacing turns that around: we lay an open-graded resin bound stone system over your existing slab, so rain drains straight through the surface and into the ground, right where it falls.
Because the slab you already own keeps doing the structural work, there’s no demolition, no skip bins and no weeks of disruption — the transformation happens in days. Puddles that used to sit after every downpour drain away, runoff to the street and the neighbours drops sharply, and where a planning permit or council condition calls for a minimum permeable area, this is a clean way to meet it. And instead of poured grey, you end up with a seamless natural stone finish chosen to suit your home.
With Signature Resin Paving you get the job done properly: premium resin systems, an honest assessment of your slab and where the water goes before we quote, a fixed written price, and a 10-year workmanship warranty behind the finish. The people who quote your project are the people who lay it.
Where it works
Existing driveways & courtyards
Sound concrete that currently sheds water and needs to stop doing that.
Sites with a stormwater condition
Where a planning permit or building surveyor has specified a minimum permeable area.
Ponding trouble spots
Low areas of an existing slab where water currently sits after rain.
Key benefits
- Resurfaces existing concrete rather than requiring it to be broken out
- Reduces runoff reaching stormwater drains and neighbouring properties
- Addresses ponding without regrading the whole slab
- Seamless, permeable finish in a choice of natural aggregate blends
- Suits both residential driveways and larger commercial hardstand
- No additional drainage grates needed on most residential jobs
How we assess the existing slab
Every permeable concrete resurface we do starts with an assessment of the slab it's going over — not just whether it's cracked, but where water currently goes and why the surface behaves the way it does now.
Low spots and reverse falls get identified before we quote, since these are the parts of the job that decide whether the finished surface actually solves the drainage problem or just looks different on top of it.
Where the sub-base beneath the slab is compromised or drains poorly, we'll say so. Resurfacing a permeable finish over a base that can't accept water limits how much of a difference it makes.
How we install it
We mechanically prepare the existing slab so the new layer bonds properly, and address any contamination or failed patch repairs rather than surfacing over them.
Where ponding has been identified, we build out the low points within the new surface so falls run the way they're supposed to, rather than simply following the old profile.
The resin bound layer is trowelled by hand in working sections for a continuous, joint-free finish, with cure times confirmed before we start so you can plan around them.
Common questions
Why make my concrete permeable instead of adding more drainage?
Grates and pipes collect water and send it somewhere else — they need to be kept clear of leaves, and they still push every storm into the stormwater system. A permeable surface deals with rain where it lands: it drains straight through into the ground, there’s no extra hard infrastructure to maintain, and you end up with a premium natural stone finish instead of more grey concrete and steel.
How long does a permeable resurface last, and is it under warranty?
Prepared and laid correctly, a resin bound surface is a 15-plus year finish, and our workmanship is backed by a 10-year warranty (terms and conditions apply) alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law. The warranty terms come to you in writing with the quote.
Is permeable concrete a different product to resin bound paving?
It’s the same open-graded resin bound system, applied to existing concrete specifically to solve a drainage or permeability problem. The name matters less than the result — your existing slab, finished in seamless natural stone that rain passes straight through.
Will it fix the puddles that sit on my driveway after rain?
Usually, yes. Shallow low spots can be built out within the new surface, and because the finish itself is permeable, everyday rain drains through it rather than collecting on top. If the whole slab falls the wrong way structurally, we’ll tell you honestly at the assessment and talk through the options before quoting.
Will it handle cars the same as normal concrete?
Yes — the resin bound layer is specified for the traffic it will carry, from paths and courtyards up to full driveway loading. Your existing slab keeps doing the structural work underneath, which is why we assess its condition honestly before we quote.
Does it need maintenance to stay permeable?
Very little. Like any porous surface it can slowly collect silt and leaf litter, so an occasional sweep and a wash-down now and then keeps water moving through it freely. There are no grates to clear and no joints to re-sand.
How do I get a price?
Send through the size, where the water currently goes and a photo or two, or ask us to inspect on site. We’ll come back with a fixed written quote with the scope spelled out — free, and with no obligation.
